DOMINION ON JOBS: Who do you believe?
It seems like a little bit of fact checking needs to be done at both Dominion
Transmission and the Governor’s office in Virginia.

Two months ago residents on the Pocahontas County, WV / Highand County,
VA border, the home of Allegheny Mountain Radio, listened to Dominon
spokesperson Jim Norvelle explain that:

Now on September 2, 2014 the Governor of Virginia is excited about Dominion’s
proposed pipeline “creating thousands of jobs”.

In the Washington Post , Gov. McAulife of VA is very excited, announcing

How many thousand jobs? The gas companies paying for the pipeline state

Dominion Transmission has already stated repeatedly that they have third party
contracts with Unions from out of state with qualified pipeline workers from Texas,
the Dakotas and Arkansas.

These are not “newly created jobs” for WV and VA residents - they are contractual
high paying jobs for specialized Union workers from out of state.

At Dominion’s first ever presentation in Pocahontas County on August 19, 2014,
Greg Plant explained that their contract requires 50% of the workers be from West
Virginia. He used the number of 600 total jobs as an example stating that 300
could be hired from Pocahontas County if they are in the Union.

On record Plant states that the WV Local Union 66 will be involved.
Interestingly this Union has a dozen chapters, none in West Virginia, they are all in the state of Ohio.
